The Europaallee quarter in the center of Zurich impresses with a diverse range of offers. The building complex "Baufeld G" is part of the urban development "Europaallee". It consists of 2 towers of different heights with 19 and 12 floors and a 4-story base building as a foundation. With its elegant-functional design in bronze-colored aluminum and glass, the building complex sets an independent and representative accent. The parapet and sun protection panels made of specially perforated, corrugated and anodized aluminum sheets were developed by MN Metall and TECmetall in close coordination with the architects, facade planners and contractors. During implementation, a very flat, perforated wellTEC® profile had to be produced in three different material thicknesses with identical axes and construction heights. The greatest challenge was that the sheets with a total area of approx. 9,600 m² had to be assembled in over 6,000 individual parts on the so-called grid (lattice grid) in an axis-oriented manner and be executed congruently over all floors. Another special feature was the sun protection system with elevating elements specially developed for this project, whose fillings consist of perforated profiled sheets from MN. The effect of various perforations and corrugations was investigated in advance with regard to the G-values in order to ensure optimum shading, which even when closed has a relatively high, subjectively perceived transparency.
Baufeld G in Zurich's Europaallee was awarded the Swiss facade award Prixforix in 2018!
