Details:
Corrugated sheeting is not only suitable for industrial and utility structures – as demonstrated by the renovation of this 1950s family home in Birne, Belgium. The widespread use of corrugated sheeting shows just how much potential the material harbours. Erected on a concrete plinth, the cubic annex boasts a simple
elegance and blends harmoniously into its environment. The beading between the corrugated aluminium sheets runs accurately and true around the residential cube, which houses a spacious living room, a kitchen and a garage. Partially perforated, the wellTEC® W-15/40 mm corrugated sheets guard against over-curious
eyes. Inside, the facade structure has a reassuringly solid construction. Consoles affixed to the concreted and heat-insulated core carry vertical sub-structure profiles, which in turn support horizontal corrugated sheets – that much is standard. But what is particularly impressive are the ingenious mechanisms in the perforated facade areas, where the semi-transparent corrugated sheets are in no way static. Hard to recognise when closed, they can easily be opened from the outside.
